2007 PMC

Sturbridge to Bourne

Carl again rode from Bruce CohenÕs on the Friday before the PMC, completing a true ÒPan-Massachusetts Challenge.Ó

Friday evening, at the Sturbridge Host Hotel:

Lydia (DavidÕs mom) registers another rider. This is her third year volunteering.

Saturday morning, just before the start:

CarlÕs ready for action. Note his new saddle Ð last summerÕs orgy of chamois butter killed his old one.

To the left of David, note the pedal partner sign saluting ÒLiaÓ pinned to the riderÕs back. The pedal partner program pairs kids in treatment at Dana-Farber with teams of riders for mutual support.

Waterstop #2, Franklin:

Carl poses for the crowd. Note the photo pinned to his lower back Ð a salute to Al Wickham, a friend who was recently taken by cancer.

Somewhere about 80 miles into the day:

The Over-the-Hill Cheerleaders in their Saturday finest.

93.5 miles into the day:

HereÕs where David did his faceplant in 2003. The fence encloses the barn that appears in the background of a painful photo...

On the TS Enterprise:

Carl revels in our good fortune Ð a private cabin for two, which made for a much better nightÕs sleep. Reveille at 4:15am Sunday still came too early.
