Sunday Bourne to Provincetown – 77 Miles
Massachusetts Maritime Academy
In the line for coffee at
about 5 am. ÒIn Memory of Rod Smith (my father) and in honor of so many moreÉÓ Cape Cod Canal
Pretty much the same vantage
point as last year,
obviously a bit later start this year. Barnstable Water Stop Nothing screams commitment
like riding 77 miles in a tutu. No idea how you keep that clean in a
port-o-letÉ ÒI Ride for My Bride. Forever
a 9-Year RiderÓ Cape Cod Sea Camps A different vantage point of Òda
HedgeÓ than in prior years. This is just about 40 miles
into the day, so remarkable how concentrated the riders still are. Nickerson State Park Water Stop
Mike samples a new ÒtreatÓ at the
waterstop – boxed pickle juice to stop muscle
cramps. It will pucker your whole
body.
Wellfleet School Water Stop
Mike enjoys the soothing
relief of an ice bench after about 140 miles in the saddle. The ice furniture is a reliable
feature of this water stop. Provincetown Town Line There is a surprising amount
of riding still be to be done from here. We had just completed a few
miles into a stiff breeze, so this was a particularly welcome breather. Provincetown Inn Just after the finish, ready
for a shower and lunch. |
