Thursday, August 5 - Oneonta NY to Massachusetts border - 105 miles Davenport NY (we think)
greets the morning
This rooster, upstairs in an abandoned barn, was
quite vocal. Rolling out from lunch stop, east of Windham NY At last we had developed a strategy - 60 miles to
lunch with as few breaks as possible tended to make for a shorter day on the
road. Of course, cool weather and a tailwind help a lot. East of East Windham NY, heading down to the Hudson
River Smiley face indeed - this
was the start of more than five miles of coasting downhill at better than 30
mph. Rip Van Winkle
Bridge over Hudson River No toll for cyclists, and
a great sense of accomplishment to cross one of the major landmarks
(watermarks?) of our journey. Arrival at the
NY/MA line Lydia secured some bubbly to celebrate the completion of our 765-mile, two rider enduro. Everything after this was familiar territory. Mandatory phone calls: "We made it!" Next Riding Day: NY line to Sturbridge MA |
