Given the arid terrain, this sign didn’t seem entirely inappropriate.

On US-2, just west of Davenport, WA

David suffered the first flat of the trip, which trashed his front tire, too.

West of Spokane

We were intrigued, but declined to take the waters.

After our arrival in Spokane, we checked out the North Division Bicycle Shop, which set us both up with better shorts. They also totally revised David’s bike geometry to help his knee, which had been hurting since the first day. The team there was terrific.
