Thisyear,
we set out to ride a "true" Pan-Massachusetts Challenge,
showing our increased support for the JimmyFund, and its efforts for cancer research
and treatment at the Dana-Farber Cancer
Institute. Dana-Farber was ranked
#4 nationally for cancer care by US News and World Reportin July, 2002.
We
started our ride on Friday, August 2 from Canaan,
New York, and joined the official PMC
in Sturbridge
to ride on Saturday, August 3 and Sunday, August 4 all the way to Provincetown.
We expected the ride to be about 290 miles.
Thisis
our third year riding. In 2000 and 2001, we rode the regular 192-mile PMC
route. This year, we wanted to do more. And we did. More than we
bargained for. Three days in oppressive heat and humidity. Thunder,
lightning and rain on Friday afternoon. 302 miles total. But, for the
right cause, you can do anything.
After the finish, ready
togo home by any means other than by bike.
